FAQ’S

We like your work, but do we need to meet before booking?

No, it’s not essential at all but I suggest a chat on the phone might be a good idea to check details and make sure we are both happy with plans.  I’m often able to schedule an evening call if that helps.

How far in advance should we book?

The sooner the better but 9-18 months is usual.  If you’re happy that I’m the photographer you want then book so that you don’t lose out.  I can never tell when a date will get booked up and I have to work on a strictly first come first served basis.

Do you use a second photographer?

Yes if you want, especially when I need to be in two places at the same time. I recently worked with a very talented photographer and found real benefits and so I would encourage it.

How many images will we get in our package?

It depends on the number you want and what you want me to photograph at your wedding.  We can discuss this when you contact me.

When will we see our wedding photos?

I aim to have your wedding pictures ready to view on a password protected page of my website within three weeks of your wedding (sometimes earlier). However, since I am a one-man band everything depends on my current workload so at peak times it can take up to six weeks.  I should be able to tell you the timing more accurately near your wedding.  It may be possible to post some wedding highlights soon after your wedding.

Will you post pictures on social media?

I will post a small selection of pictures on Facebook soon after the wedding.  Please let me know if you do not want me to do this.

How will we receive our pictures?

I usually write all the wedding and pre-wedding pictures onto a USB card, which I send to you by post soon after I have put them online.  If you wish it is possible to arrange a download of your images.

Can we print photos from the USB stick?

Yes, you can but I suggest you use a good lab.

For how long will our picture gallery remain online?

I usually put the galleries up for a year but they can be left for longer if required.

How long will our formal family group photos take?

I normally work quickly through a list as I like to be well organized for the formal family groups and will have asked you for details before the day.  If you have a big family then you may want more pictures and that’s fine as long as you realize it will take longer and we have allowed time.  Ten groups might take half an hour but it depends on how quickly people respond to instructions.  I’ve been told I have the “patience of a Saint” after some marathon sessions but you might not!  I can sometimes split the session and take some pictures later in the evening.  If you really don’t want many formal shots – that’s ok too.

Do you include prints in the package?

Yes if you want.  Your package can contain everything you want. Please just ask.

Do you give a discount for midweek weddings?

Most mid-week wedding packages are one-off special packages so they are generally less expensive anyway.

Do we need to provide you with dinner? Do you have any dietary requirements?

If I’ve covered your ceremony and reception and you want me to stay after your meal then dinner would be great thank you.  I have no special requirements.

Can I design my own album?

Of course, you can.

Can I order an album even if my wedding was a while ago?

Yes, you can.  I keep all my digital files backed up on hard drives and should have no problem finding yours.  I have access to a wide range of wonderful albums to suit all budgets so please get in touch.  I love making albums because the finished article always gives such pleasure.

My fiancée hates being photographed and we aren’t keen on posed photos. What do we do?

We need to work together and to a certain extent you need to trust me.  My pre-wedding shoot is the ideal answer for you.  I’ll explain everything, show you what to do, take some pictures and when you see images of yourselves you like you’ll be able to relax and your wedding will be brilliant.

What happens if your camera breaks?

I always bring back-up equipment to weddings just in case.

Do you do engagement shoots?

Yes, I call them pre-wedding shoots and find them very useful for us to get to know each other.  The experience will help you relax in front of the camera on your wedding day.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I have professional indemnity insurance.

Will our pictures be in colour or black and white?

I shoot in colour and turn the pictures I want into black and white.  If you want pictures in black and white especially please let me know.
