ATHOLL PALACE HOTEL
Atholl Palace Hotel As I drive to Pitlochry up the A9 I never fail to be impressed by the sight of the Atholl Palace Hotel as it towers above the trees by the river Tummel. The main drive curls round the lawns between rows of tall trees and I always feel pleased and excited to have arrived at this grand place. It’s an impressive and accommodating wedding venue from all aspects.
The Bow Lounge is often used for ceremonies as it can seat 100 guests and has huge bay windows with wonderful views. Summer receptions often spill out onto the hotel forecourt and lawns where there are spectacular views to the hills. It is possible to descend the stone stairs to the fountain and lower gardens with even more photographic opportunities. Some choose to have their ceremony down here and benefit from the beauty of the setting.
I love the circular Atholl Suite when it’s decorated with sparkling lights. It’s a big space but one that eminently suits a party. At one wedding a few years ago the couple organized a 20 piece jazz band to entertain them through the evening. It was wonderful.
